I have lost my money

I am Samanthika. I am studying at the Advanced Technology Institute, Trincomalee. I am doing my English Diploma course at this institute. I had the third semester exam today. So, she came to the institute for the exam early in the morning.

But, my family was very poor in finances. We had a lot of problems maintaining our family. So, I need to participate in the exam. I asked for two hundred rupees from my neighbour. He hadn't changed for two hundred rupees. So, they gave five hundred rupees currency.  They also gave me 500 rupees, not 100 rupees, but only 500 rupees. I also bought it and joined the bus for the semester exam.

I had already bought a bus ticket for a hundred rupees to come to ATI. So, I had four hundred balance in my hand. I put the balance in my handbag. But, bags and mobile phones are not allowed in the exam hall. So, I put my bag outside of the exam hall. In that bag, four hundred hundreds of money, a mobile phone and other things are also kept in the bag.

I have written my exam in the exam hall. It was a three-hour exam, and I  finished the exam within two hours. The exam had finished and all the students went outside. After my exam, I wanted to go home, before I just went to the wash room at the institute and left my bag outside.

After that, I went outside of the Institute. The bus also came. About 15 minutes into the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus, when I opened my bag to buy a ticket from the conductor, there was no money inside my bag. I was shocked.

I told the bus conductor that the money was missing. The bus contractor used harsh language and asked them to get off of the bus. It brought tears to my eyes. I got off without saying anything. The bus fare is just fifty rupees. For many, there is no number at all. But, for some, it is a huge amount. Those who have suffered in life must know that two rupees is a huge amount when faced with extreme hardship.

When I got off of the bus, many hands who were traveling on the bus extended fifty rupees to me after knowing the true situation. They asked me to board the bus. However, the words of the bus conductor stung my ears. Once again, I refused to get the bus and stood on the side of the road. The bus left. I don't know what to do.

After a long silence, somehow I calmed down and picked up the mobile phone and called my father. Father also said" Don't worry" and reached my place on a motorcycle within half an hour. I have also gone home.

Please don't let anyone do this kind of betrayal to me. Let this situation go with me. When my friend who was coming on the diploma course with us finished telling the whole story, the eyes of each of us were listening. The corners of the eyes are white and moist. 440 rupees is not a big amount. But, theft is the biggest crime. We must understand the another people's feelings.
